LROCWA – Best of 2026

The Land Rover Owners’ Club of WA was founded in 1968 by a group of passionate 4WD adventurers led by Lloyd Denney. Since then, we’ve been exploring Australia’s stunning landscapes, sharing stories around campfires, and making memories on and off the track — through both our trips and regular social events.

2026 has already been a busy year, with a great mix of club trips, adventures and social events. Here’s a sneak peek at what we’ve been up to so far.

Sold all club photo comp calendars

Each year the club holds a photo competition of which the winners go into the club calendar, which are then sold to members at cost. Another year of great photos submitted and worthy winners of cash.

LWE at Mt Trio Caravan Park

Think we could start to call this long weekend destination a regular now, as so many enjoy this region.  11 members this year made the journey.  Rather windy this year, proof of an awning facing the wrong way proved that.

Club BBQ Breakfast at Point Walter

Another annual event, a large turnout of members attended Point Walter where the club put on a bbq breakfast for all.  Always a well-attended and enjoyable day.

LWE Wrights Bridge

9 vehicles attended this long weekend event near Balingup. Some enjoyable driving through the bushland and pine forests.  Interesting reading about the Jarrahwood history as well as enjoying strolling around the quaint township of Nannup. Was a weekend fighting the march flies.

New club merchandiser

Last year the club had been working on new “merch”, this year it came fruition with AS Designs setting up an online store of LROCWA goodies.

Presidents BBQ

The annual event held at the Presidents home.  This year complete with cooling pool – even if you went in by accident!  So much food, no-one went hungry.

Seabird day trip

Between the fuel crisis and the threat of terrible weather, only 2 members braved the day trip.  A nice beach drive and up over the dunes to the lighthouse.  After lunch and then up and over the big dune at Wilbinga.

Lawn bowls

11 members a mid week evening barefoot bowls event at South Perth bowls club.  This too seems to have become an annual event enjoyed by all who attend.

Millrose Station Extended trip

7 club member vehicles attended an exploring of this Station.

WW2 Tunnels social event

12 members attended this social event.  Everyone enjoyed learning about the tunnels.  Followed by picnic lunch by the river near the Mosman Park Tennis Centre.

Brazier Exploring Extended trip – June ‘26

7 club member vehicles, after much research and calculating co-ordinates from Noel Brazier’s field book we went in search of his survey markers from No 1 to 34.  Whilst blazed trees we didn’t search for due to the chances of them still being there after 132 years, we did find many of his cairns with blazed posts.

Brazier Revisited Extended trip – August ‘26

The June trip was cut a little short due to weather and time constraints, so another trip was planned but this time one particular special task was to be achieved –  installing a preservation box to help protect a survey peg that has already survived an incredible 132 years. With its current location and surrounds leaving it vulnerable, hopefully our efforts will give this little piece of history the best chance of surviving for another 132. 

Kimberleys Extended Club Trip

Trip from Broome through the Dampier Peninsula and along the Gibb River Road, to Mitchell Falls, around to Kununurra, and back to Broome via the Bungle Bungle Range was attended by eight cars from the club.

Talbot Hall Annual Dinner/Trophy Night.

What a great evening!  40+ members attended Talbot Hall for a 1-2 night campout.  Saturday we had a day trip out into the Wandoo reserve nearby, Saturday evening saw a 3 course catered meal had by all.  Throughout the evening the formalities of club trophies were handed out.  Each night everyone warmed themselves along with their glasses of red or port around a raging campfire. 

Powerlines day trip

It’s almost an annual trip this one.  7 cars attended enjoying and some not so much enjoying the gnarly rutted tracks and muddy waterholes.  Even helping a stranded fellow 4wder along the way.

Yeal Swamp day trip

10 vehicles hit the road for this club day trip.  The “bit scratchy” trip was an understatement according to the brand new vehicle drivers).  Some enjoyable sand hill climbs.  Lunch in the swamp that wasn’t a swamp (dry)

Abyssinia Rock day trip

4 vehicles attended this day trip.  No recce done on this one, so it was a bit of “see how we go” kinda trip.  Dodging all the motorbike crews and setups along the way we enjoyed a nice journey through the bushland, of rutted tracks and water covered tracks, wondering how deep is it, as we can’t go around?! 

Quick visit to Mt Dale.  Lots of to-ing and fro-ing to get to said rock, but the crew got there and enjoyed all the tracks along the way.

And of course each month we have our club magazine “The Chariot” sent to all members.
