The meet point was Dwellingup Hotel carpark, where visitors were introduced and trip outline was discussed.
With Bob D running late due to traffic, it was decided the convoy would head along Nanga Rd to the start of the Captain Fawcett track where Bob would join us. We aired down for the expected bumpy track ahead, and once Bob joined us, we were on our way.
The track was wetter than expected, and a few shallow water holes were crossed before we came to a stop at the point where the track was covered with water, some deep parts and some a little deeper still.
Trip Leader took the far right track which was a steep descent into water that flowed over the bonnet of the Jeep Cherokee, however all was good as we made it out of the water hole safely. Most of the other vehicles took the shallower option to the left, however our brave visitor, Locky, chose the track to the right and entered the steep descent in his Ford Everest. Part way through the water though, the Ford stopped and would not restart. With water entering through the door seals, a snatch strap was attached and Mike’s mighty Toyota Landcruiser pulled the Ford out to dry ground. The doors were opened, the water poured out, and Locky was heard to say ‘do you think my wife will notice’.
Once the Everest dried and could be restarted, we continued along the track, turning off the track down to the river for our lunch stop.
We exited the Captain Fawcett track at Driver Rd, turning right then into Nanga Rd before airing up and heading home.
Thank you to all who joined us on this trip, Trip Leaders Troy and Marietta.
